Planning for IBM Content Cortex
You can use IBM Content Cortex as one of your IBM Content Navigator repositories.
Important: Before you install IBM Content Navigator, ensure that you are
running supported versions of IBM
FileNet® Content Engineand,
optionally, IBM
FileNet Process Engine.
IBM Content Navigator and IBM Content Cortex components
IBM Content Navigator interacts with various
components of your IBM Content Cortex system,
including:
- IBM Content Cortex security policies
- IBM Content Navigator has four levels of security: Owner, Author, Reader, and No Access. However, individual rights can be viewed and modified. To properly control the security of objects in the repository, you must set security policies in IBM FileNet Content Engine, IBM FileNet Workplace XT, or IBM FileNet Application Engine.
- Content Engine
- IBM Content Navigator uses the Content Engine client connector files to communicate with IBM Content Cortex. When you install IBM Content Navigator, a version of the Content Engine client connector files are installed on the IBM Content Navigator server. IBM Content Navigator and IBM Content Cortex must run the same version of the Content Engine client connector files. If they are not running the same version, you can use the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool to download the version of the files that are on your Content Engine server.
- Process Engine
- IBM Content Navigator uses the Process Engine client connector files to access IBM Content Cortex workflows on your IBM Content Cortex repository. When you install IBM Content Navigator, a version of the Process Engine client connector files are installed on the IBM Content Navigator server. If you plan to use IBM Content Cortex workflows from IBM Content Navigator, IBM Content Navigator and IBM Content Cortex must run the same version of the Process Engine client connector files. If they are not running at the same version, you must install the correct version of the Process Engine connector files on the IBM Content Navigator server before you run the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool.
