Upgrading to IBM ECM CMIS

You can upgrade to IBM® ECM CMIS, Version 3.0.3 from IBM Content Navigator, Version 2.0.3.8 or 3.0.x releases. If you are on earlier version than IBM Content Navigator 2.0.3.8, you must upgrade to Version 2.0.3.8 before upgrading to IBM ECM CMIS Version 3.0.3.

About this task

Before you upgrade IBM ECM CMIS:
  • Ensure that you successfully installed, configured, and deployed a previous version of IBM ECM CMIS.
  • Ensure that you are running the prerequisite software at the appropriate version. For example, ensure that the following statements are true: o If you use IBM ECM CMIS for Content Manager OnDemand repositories, ensure that you are running a supported version of IBM Content Manager OnDemand Web Enablement Kit. In IBM ECM CMIS, ODWEK Version 9 is the minimum supported version. For more information, see Prerequisites for installing IBM ECM CMIS.
  • Back up your current installation of IBM Content Navigator isntallation i.e. ECMClient folder.
  • Ensure that the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool is closed.

Important: Copy the profile_name folder from <ICN_install_location>\configure\profiles folder to <CMIS_install_location>\configure\profiles folder. If the user upgrades IBM Content Navigator (ICN) 3.0.3 before upgrading IBM ECM CMIS 3.0.3, the backup profile would be created under <ICN_install_location>/configure/profiles_backup and the profile has to be copied from <ICN_install_location>\configure\profiles_backup folder to <CMIS_install_location>\configure\profiles folder.

If previous version had CMIS only:
  1. Undeploy navigatorEAR.ear from the Admin console.
  2. Run the upgrade steps mentioned in: Upgrading an IBM ECM CMIS deployment
If Previous version had ICN and CMIS configured:
  1. It is recommended that you upgrade to IBM Content Navigator 3.0.3 first so that the CMIS related modules are removed.
  2. If you do not wish to upgrade your ICN first, as in step 1, then manually remove the navigatorEAR.ear from the Application server admin console and then follow the upgrade steps in: Upgrading an IBM ECM CMIS deployment
  3. Ensure that you modify the existing ICN3.0.x profile to remove any CMIS repositories using the ICN Configuration and Deployment tool and then run the build and deploy tasks in the modified profile.

In addition, it is strongly recommended that you use the Installation and configuration worksheets to record the values that you use in your existing profiles. The worksheets make it easier for you to ensure that your profiles contain the correct information after you update them.
