Configuring DCOM on the remote server

Remote DCOM access to the Microsoft NTFS connector requires modification of the DCOM configuration of the remote server to enable remote access to the native connector components. DCOM configuration can also be required in some single-server installations, depending on the server configuration.

Before you begin

Ensure that you registered the native connector components.

About this task

The Microsoft NTFS connector is accessed from the application server by using distributed COM (DCOM) Microsoft architecture.

To configure DCOM on the remote server:

Procedure

  1. Configure the connector by using the administrative tool and the DCOM properties.
  2. Configure the connector to use DCOM for the COM domain and user that you specified in the connector configuration. The Microsoft NTFS DCOM class is FileSystemWorker.BWSecurity.

What to do next

The DCOM authorization information is cached in the connector implementation. Windows might require a restart for the DCOM changes to take effect. Whenever you modify the DCOM settings on the remote server, restart the application server where the connector is installed and restart the remote server.
