Annotations

About this task

An annotation is a note that you can associate with any step or route in a workflow map. Annotations appear on the workflow map displayed in Process Designer; they do not appear in a running workflow at an individual step.

To add an annotation to the workflow map:

Procedure

  1. Right-click in the workflow map and select New > Annotation. You can also click the Annotation icon in the docked palette and drag it onto the map.

If text annotations are turned off in Display Preferences, the New>> Annotation option will not appear on the menu.

  2. In the Properties pane:
    • Specify a name. (Optional)
    • Enter the message.
    • Select a background color.
  3. Drag the annotation to the location you want on the map.
  4. To associate the annotation with a particular step or route, point to the edge of the annotation box and drag an association line to the target step or route. See Association properties for additional information.

Results

  • You can show or hide all the text annotations and associations on the map using the Show/Hide Text Annotations icon in the status bar, or by selecting the option in Display Preferences. You can also specify the annotation background color.
  • The text box has a predefined size and cannot be resized. The entire message displays in the Properties pane.
