About system steps

A system step provides a way to include one or more IBM® FileNet-supplied system functions at a particular point in a workflow definition.

System functions provide flow and logic control. For example, the Delay system function delays processing for the amount of time you specify. See About system functions for a list of available functions.

Use one of the following procedures to specify a system function in the workflow:

To add a step with a single system function

• Select a pre-configured step from the appropriate step palette: CheckPoint Palette, General System Palette, Timer Palette, or Web Services Palette.

To add a step that will execute one or multiple system functions

1. Add a system step from the BPM Palette.
2. Select each system function that you want to use and move it to the Selected list. Arrange them in the order you want them to execute.
3. Double-click each one and specify the parameters. See the documentation for each system function for specific information.
