About the Launch step
The Launch step is the first step in a workflow. The launch step is automatically placed on the main workflow map when you create a new workflow definition. This step can be renamed, but it cannot be deleted or copied.
The launch step is displayed to the user who launches the workflow. In the workflow definition, you specify the properties for the launch step, include instructions for the user who launches the workflow, and any attachments, fields, responses, routing conditions, or rules to execute when starting the workflow.
Important: When a workflow has a launch
step that is immediately followed by system steps, then all of the
system steps are processed before the work item is forwarded to the
next step such as an activity step. Control of the workflow is not
returned to the user until all of the system step processing, which
could be time consuming, has completed.
