Resource statuses
A resource status is a status associated with a storage area that determines, in combination with the storage area configuration, the permissible content operations for that area.
The following table indicates the operations allowed by each status.
| Content operation | Resource Status Online Open | Resource Status Offline Closed | Resource Status Offline Standby | Resource Status Offline Full |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Create content | Valid | Not valid | Not valid | Not valid |
| Add new content | Valid | Not valid | Valid | Not valid |
| Delete content | Valid | Valid | Valid | Valid |
| Retrieve content | Valid | Valid | Valid | Valid |
For example, as indicated by the table, the Open resource status permits all content operations.
You can configure a storage area to disallow some content operations
that would otherwise be permitted by a resource status. Specifically,
you can disallow the following operations:
- Create content and add new content
- Delete content
Qualification:
The content operations that Content Platform Engine permits for the content of a particular document also depend on the security permissions of the user accessing the document.
Resource status changes occur in the following ways:
- Automatically
- Content Platform Engine sets the resource status to Open for newly created storage areas, and also for storage areas with a status of Standby (in some circumstances). Also, whatContent Platform Engine changes the resource status from Open to some other status when detecting a particular storage area condition.
- Indirectly
- You indirectly change the resource status when you set a storage area to be online or offline. Specifically, enabling the storage area to be online causes the resource status to be Open, and disabling the storage area to be offline causes the resource status to be Closed.
- Directly
- You can directly change the resource status for a storage area. See Change the storage area resource status for more information.
