Installing IBM Content Search Services

You can install IBM Content Search Services either interactively or silently by using the information about the Installation and Upgrade Worksheet that was completed during your planning activities.

The vendor software that is used to install IBM Content Search Services does not support the use of extended (non-English) characters in the installation path. You must use only English characters (not extended characters) in the installation path for IBM Content Search Services.

The Java™ runtime is not provided as part of the IBM Content Search Services installation package. You must provide a suitable Java environment which is necessary to run the installer and to execute the IBM Content Search Services server. It is advised to use the same Java version to install and run IBM Content Search Services. Ensure all tasks described in Providing a JAVA Runtime Environment during install were previously completed.

Note: When you upgrade, if you choose not to use the Java that was part of the prior installation, make sure to copy any customization that you have made to that Java (for example, to java.security, to the Java installation that you plan to use).
