Digital signing
Java™ applets are digitally signed with an IBM® certificate that is recognized by the Java Runtime Environment. An example of an application that has Java applets is IBM Content Navigator.
The IBM certificate is periodically renewed. When the certificate is renewed, fix pack updates are made available with newly signed applets. If you do not install the fix pack updates to refresh the digital signatures, users will see additional confirmation dialog boxes that warn them of problems with the expired certificate.
