Controlling the indexing workload
You can indirectly control the way that the indexing workload is handled by optionally creating affinity groups. These groups associate IBM® Content Search Services index servers with index areas. You can also directly set the indexing work capacity of index servers and Content Platform Engine instances.
Index server workload rebalancing
A full-text index is assigned to one IBM Content Search Services index server at a time. This assigned server makes all index entry changes for the index. To better balance server workloads, Content Platform Engine changes the index server for an index as needed.
Affinity groups
An affinity group is a group of IBM Content Search Services index servers and index areas. The servers in a group access only those index areas in the same group. The servers that are not in a group access only those index areas that are not in a group.
Creating an affinity group
Create affinity groups to dedicate IBM Content Search Services index servers to particular index areas. The index servers in an affinity group access only those index areas in the same group.
Setting the indexing work capacity of index servers
You can set the number of index batches that an IBM Content Search Services index server can work on concurrently. By doing so, you control the indexing work capacity of the server.
Setting the indexing work capacity of subsystem dispatchers
You can set an upper limit to the number of index worker threads for a Content Platform Engine instance. By doing so, you control the indexing work capacity of the instance.
