CPU tuning properties

Much of CPU tuning revolves around the submission of index batches from Content Platform Engine to IBM® Content Search Services.

Indexing work capacity
You can control the indexing work capacity of IBM Content Search Services index servers and Content Platform Engine instances.
Text extraction worker threads (Content Platform Engine)
The indexing rate is affected by the number of concurrent worker threads that perform text extraction. To achieve an optimal indexing rate, set this number to be as high as system resources permit.
Dispatcher minimum wait interval
The administration console Minimum wait interval property for indexing specifies the minimum time between dispatcher processing runs. The default minimum wait interval is 180 seconds. During each run, the Content Platform Engine dispatcher assigns index requests from the index request queue to worker threads.
Maximum lease interval
The administration console Maximum lease interval property for indexing specifies a maximum for the following intervals: the wait interval for the dispatcher and the interval for a worker thread to process an index batch. The latter interval is called the lease interval.
Maximum index batch size
The administration console Maximum batch size property for indexing specifies the maximum number of index requests in an index batch. The default is 1000 index requests per batch. Content Platform Engine submits index batches to IBM Content Search Services index servers for processing.
Maximum index insertion batch size for indexing/reindexing
For larger volumes of indexing and when faster indexing performance is crucial, increase the maximum size for index insertion batches. Index insertion batches contain index requests that are added to the index request queue.
