Enable dual mode indexing by adding an Elasticsearch index area to an object store that is already configured with Content Search Services index areas.
About this task
Dual mode indexing is automatically enabled when you add an Elasticsearch index area to an object store that already has Content Search Services index areas and is enabled for content-based retrieval (CBR). The Dual mode indexing is enabled checkbox is read-only and automatically becomes checked when index areas for both Content Search Services and Elasticsearch are present. The system then indexes newly ingested content to both search engines simultaneously.
Procedure
-
Log in to the Administration Console for Content Platform Engine as an administrator.
-
Verify that an Elasticsearch cluster is added to the domain.
The Elasticsearch cluster is available for use with object stores in the
domain.
-
Navigate to the object store where you want to enable dual mode indexing.
-
Verify the current indexing mode status.
-
In the object store navigation tree, select .
-
Verify that the Dual mode indexing is enabled checkbox is unchecked.
This read-only checkbox remains unchecked until you add an Elasticsearch index area. The checkbox automatically becomes checked when index areas for both Content Search Services and Elasticsearch are present in the object store.
-
Add an Elasticsearch index area to the object store.
-
In the object store navigation tree, expand .
-
Right-click Elasticsearch and select New Index Area.
-
In the New Index Area wizard, select the Elasticsearch cluster that you want to use.
-
Configure the index area properties, including the index name and settings.
Configure the Elasticsearch index area in the same manner as you would for single mode Elasticsearch indexing.
-
Complete the wizard to create the index area.
The Elasticsearch index area is created and associated with the object store. Dual mode indexing is automatically enabled.
-
Verify that dual mode indexing is enabled.
-
Return to .
-
Verify that the Dual mode indexing is enabled checkbox is now checked.
This checkbox is automatically checked when both Content Search Services and Elasticsearch index areas are present in the object store.
The object store is now in dual mode. All newly ingested content is automatically indexed to both Content Search Services and Elasticsearch.
-
Select a language analyzer for Elasticsearch.
You must select a text analyzer to finalize the dual mode configuration.
-
On the Text Search page, locate the Elasticsearch language analyzer settings.
-
Select the appropriate language analyzer for your content.
The analyzer determines how Elasticsearch processes and indexes text content.
-
Save the configuration.
The dual mode configuration is complete. The object store indexes new content to both search engines.
Results
Dual mode indexing is enabled for the object store. Newly ingested content is automatically indexed to both Content Search Services and Elasticsearch. Content that existed before you enabled dual mode must be reindexed to make it available in Elasticsearch.
What to do next
After enabling dual mode indexing, configure the Elasticsearch indexing queue sweep and plan your strategy for reindexing existing content to migrate it to Elasticsearch.
