Importing objects in bulk

IBM® Content Engine Bulk Import Tool is a command-line tool that you can use to import large volumes of documents into a Content Platform Engine object store.

Use of the Bulk Import Tool might require additional licensing. Please confer with your sales representative to determine if additional licensing is required.

You can use Bulk Import Tool to automate the following tasks:
  • Monitoring file system folders for content that must be assembled as documents.
  • Assigning metadata and indexing information to the documents in batches.
  • Storing the content in batches.
You can use Bulk Import Tool with minimal changes to your environment if you currently use the HPII utility. By using Bulk Import Tool, you can perform the following tasks:
  • Configure the batch size and the number of background import threads.
  • Receive summaries in the form of journal files that provide the results of every batch that is processed.
When you use Bulk Import Tool, you are not restricted to document types or document structure. However, limitations might be imposed by Content Platform Engine or the software that retrieves and displays the documents, so refer to the appropriate product documentation for any limitations.
