Configure a local group

You use the Administration Console for Content Platform Engine to enable local group usage, to create and manage the group, and to assign members.

About this task

To enable local groups for a domain, you set the Local groups enabled property to True. You can then do the following operations:
  • Create a local group
  • Add members to a group
  • Update a local group
  • Delete a local group

Procedure

To configure a local group:

  1. Enable the local groups feature:
    1. In the Administration Console for Content Platform Engine, from the navigation pane, click the domain object.
    2. In the content pane, click the General tab.
    3. Change the Local groups enabled setting to True.
    4. Click Save to apply your change.
  2. Create a local group:
    1. In the administration console navigation pane, click Global Configuration > Administration > Local groups.
    2. Click Add Group.
    3. Enter values for the Display name and Group name, and click Next.
  3. Add users to the local group:
    1. Click Add Member.
    2. Select the security realm that contains the users or groups that you want to add.
      This value can include the local groups realm, displayed as LocalGroups (dc=localgroups).
    3. Enter search criteria to find the users or groups in question.
    4. Use the move control to shift the users and groups that you want from the Available list to the Selected list, and click OK to save your updates to the member list.
  4. Update a local group:
    1. Use the Search criteria to add relevant criteria for searching for the local group, and click Search.
    2. Use the General tab to edit the display name or group name, and click Save to apply your changes.
    3. Use the Group members tab to edit the membership of the group.
  5. If necessary, delete a local group:
    1. Use the Search criteria to add relevant criteria for searching for the local group, and click Search.
    2. Select the group that you want to remove and click Delete.
