Use Content Assistant mode to ask questions, compare documents, generate summaries, and get AI-powered insights about selected documents in the IBM® Content Navigator workspace.
Before you begin
You need to set up the IBM Content Assistant in your CPE and Content Navigator environment. For more information, see the following topics:
Both the Content Cortex AI Services and IBM Content Assistant plug-ins must be enabled for the desktop to access Content Assistant through the Ask AI agents feature.
About this task
Both Navigator Core Agent and Content Assistant modes are available in the workspace environment. Navigator Core Agent focuses on conversational search and document discovery, while Content Assistant helps you analyze, understand, and work with documents you have already identified. You can switch between these AI modes as needed to match your workflow.
Content Assistant mode is context-aware and automatically picks up context from documents you select in the workspace, providing relevant assistance based on your current work.
Procedure
- Log in to IBM Content Navigator by using your credentials.
Note: Use only HTTPS connection to access IBM Content Navigator when AI plug-ins are installed.
- Click Ask AI agents from the desktop navigation menu.
The AI agent interface opens. If both AI plug-ins are enabled, you can access multiple AI modes.
- Use the Navigator Core Agent to find and narrow down a list of documents you want to work with.
For example, you can ask the agent to find documents by name, content, or folder location. The agent displays matching documents in the chat interface.
- Click Work with documents in Workspace.
The workspace opens with the list of documents from your conversation, displaying them in a table format with document properties.
- In the workspace, click the mode selector in the left panel and select Content Assistant.
The Content Assistant mode becomes active in the workspace. This mode is specifically designed for workspace interactions and provides AI capabilities for document analysis and management.
- Select one or more documents in the workspace.
Content Assistant automatically picks up context from your selected documents. When documents
are selected, the AI uses those documents as context for your questions and requests.
- In the chat panel on the left, enter your request or question about the selected
documents. Submit the request.
- Optional: To close the workspace and return to the chat interface, click the close button (X) in the workspace header.
When you close the workspace, you return to the chat context window. Your conversation context is preserved.
Results
You can work with documents in the workspace while receiving AI-powered assistance from
Content Assistant. The mode provides context-aware support based on your selected documents, helping
you understand document content, organize files, and perform document management tasks efficiently.
