Working with Ask your repository mode

Use the Ask Your Repository mode to ask questions about content across an entire repository. It provides accurate answers within the context of the document content across the entire repository.

Before you begin

You need to set up the IBM® Content Assistant in your CPE and Content Navigator environment. For more information, see the following topics:

Both the Content Cortex AI Services and IBM Content Assistant plug-ins must be enabled for the desktop to access Ask your Repository through the Ask AI agents feature.

About this task

You might want to ask questions about a document that you are not able to locate within the repository but you know that the information resides within one or more documents in the repository. Use the Ask Your Repository mode when you want to ask questions about such documents.

Procedure

  1. Log in to IBM Content Navigator by using your credentials.
Note: Use only HTTPS connection to access IBM Content Navigator when the IBM Content Assistant plug-in is installed.
  2. Click Ask AI agents from the desktop navigation menu.
    The AI agent interface opens.
  3. Select Ask Your Repository from the mode selector.
The AI agent interface opens in Ask Your Repository mode. The mode uses the default repository configured for the desktop to answer your questions. You can change the search scope to another available repository by selecting a different object store.
Note: You can access Ask Your Repository mode only when IBM Content Assistant is enabled for your Content Platform Engine environment.
  4. Enter your question in the chat input field.
You can use natural language to describe what you need. The home screen displays Helper Cards with Sample Prompts that suggest what you can ask. You can click a sample prompt to use it, or type your own question.
When you submit a question, the Content Platform Engine initiates a vector search against the vector database in your environment. The vector database retrieves the most relevant document chunks based on the relevancy score threshold that you configured. If none of the retrieved document chunks meet the relevancy score threshold, the Ask your Repository returns an error.
  5. Review the generated response.
You can do one of the following actions:
    • Copy the response: Click the copy icon to copy the generated response to your clipboard.
    • View document excerpts: Click the drop-down arrow to view up to six document excerpts for the generated response.
    • Provide feedback about the response: Click the upvote or downvote icon to submit your feedback about the response.
  6. Optional: Switch to Navigator Core Agent mode to work with specific documents.
To search for specific documents, organize them into folders, update properties, or build workspaces for focused review and analysis, switch to Navigator Core Agent mode using the mode selector. For more information, see Using Navigator Core Agent and Workspace.
