Defining the repository infrastructure
As an administrator, you control how objects and the related
metadata are stored in your system by determining how data sources will be shared
and by defining the object stores and storage areas. In addition,
you can manage the security of the objects by creating security policies
and marking sets, and you can configure request forwarding to reduce
network traffic.
Sharing data sources
To configure objects to use the same data sources, you specify the same database connection for each object store or isolated region. To configure for dedicated (nonshared) databases, you set a different database connection for each object store or isolated region.
Defining object stores
Storing content
Content Platform Engine supports various devices to store content, which can be used individually or in conjunction with one another.
Request forwarding
Request forwarding enables data requests to be serviced by a site that is geographically closest to the object store database. With request forwarding, a Content Platform Engine server communicates with an object store database over a local high-speed LAN instead of a remote server accessing the object store database over a lower-speed WAN, thus reducing network traffic and improving performance.
Content Platform Engine server communication
Content Platform Engine server communication enables cross-site replication for an advanced storage area without the requirement to mount any file system directories across the WAN between sites.
Managing security
You can create, apply, and administer security on objects that are created by Content Platform Engine .
