Centera fixed content device (deprecated)

A Content Cortex fixed storage area can use the EMC Centera fixed content device for storing content element files. The content can belong to documents from different object stores. In addition, the object stores can belong to different Content Cortex domains.

The Content Platform Engine component that migrates the content element files to the EMC Centera device is the fixed content provider.

When object content is deleted from an EMC Centera fixed content device, the deletion is handled by EMC Centera in a way that prevents the content from being read in the future. You can specify deletion options in the device configuration. However, with a Content Cortex fixed storage area, the Clear and Destroy deletion methods behave the same at the Centera (ECS CAS) device level. The Purge deletion method is supported only when Content Address Collision Avoidance is enabled on the Centera system. When Purge deletion is specified, deleting document content removes the C-Clip and purges all associated content blobs using the FPTag_BlobPurge operation. For staging area files, data scrubbing occurs in accordance with the delete method that you selected for the storage area.

Note: These limitations for content deletion settings also apply for EMC Elastic Cloud Storage devices.
Restriction: No mechanism is available for scrubbing indexed content from the CBR indexes.
