Configuring the Hitachi fixed content device

Before you can create a Content Platform Engine object to represent a Hitachi fixed content device, you must configure the device, and the device must be accessible to the Content Platform Engine network.

Procedure

To create a connection from IBM® Content Cortex to the Hitachi fixed content device:

  1. Create a namespace on the Hitachi system for use as an IBM Content Cortex fixed storage device.
  2. Configure the namespace.
    1. Allocate adequate storage quota.
    2. Disable indexing.
      This step is optional but reduces potential problems when configuring the namespace.
    3. Enable the REST API.
  3. Create a user account on the Hitachi device with read, write, browse, delete, and purge access to the namespace.
    If you want to create a Hitachi Content Platform fixed content storage area with Device Holds enabled, the user account must also have the Privileged permissions.

    This user account is used by the Content Platform Engine to access the Hitachi fixed content device.
