Upgrading IBM Content Search Services

You can upgrade IBM Content Search Services from the previous versions to the current version.

Before you begin

Starting with V5.5.10, the Java™™ runtime is not provided as part of the IBM Content Search Services installation packages. Ensure all tasks described in Providing a Java™ Runtime Environment during upgrade were previously completed

Be sure that you have available the Installation and Upgrade Worksheet that was completed during your planning activities.

About this task

If IBM Content Search Services is not already installed on the system that you plan to upgrade, you must do a fresh installation of IBM Content Search Services. For more information, see the topic Installing IBM Content Search Services.

You can run the IBM Content Search Services upgrade procedures only on a system where you installed IBM Content Search Services software before upgrade.

Important: In a multiple server configuration, stop all instances of the IBM Content Search Services servers that need to be upgraded.

You can upgrade IBM Content Search Services interactively or silently by using the information from the Installation and Upgrade Worksheet that was completed during your planning activities.
