Running an IBM Content Capacity Planner report
You can run an IBM® Content Capacity Planner (previously known as ‘Scout’) report to export the captured data to a comma-delimited file that can be used as input to the IBM Content Capacity Planner system configuration and output tool. You access a report from the Reports view. Your IBM representative can give you more information about the IBM Content Capacity Planner tool, which is used by field service personnel for forecasting and planning system capacity requirements.
About this task
You might run an IBM Content Capacity Planner report if you are planning to expand your Content Cortex system. For example, you might want to determine how many more processors you would need if your work load increased by 40% in the next year. The IBM Content Capacity Planner report gives a baseline measurement of your current system configuration that field service personnel can input to the IBM Content Capacity Planner tool to complete the projection.
The process of running an IBM Content Capacity Planner report is similar to the process of running a regular report. However, the IBM Content Capacity Planner report uses a standard template, so you do not define which metrics are collected and you do not use a report template.
You run an IBM Content Capacity Planner report from the Reports view.
Procedure
- From the Reports view, click IBM Content Capacity Planner. The IBM Content Capacity Planner report uses a standard report template so you do not need to select a custom report template.
- When the IBM Content Capacity Planner window appears, select the Listener from which you want the report to be run.
- On the right side, select the length of the report in hours under Length in hours.
- Under To, select the end of the time period for which to report the data. Use both the Length in hours and To fields to restrict the length of the report to focus on a specific time period.
- Under Output To, specify the path and output file name of the generated report. You can also click the ellipsis button to specify a location. The format of the generated report is a comma-separated value (CSV) file, so an extension of .csv is recommended. If you do not specify an extension for the report you are generating, a default .csv extension is used for the reports.
- To generate the report, click Run. The report is created and the IBM Content Capacity Planner dialog box closes. If any errors occur, they are reported and the dialog box remains on screen so you can fix the errors and try again.
