Reporting usage metrics to IBM Software Central
Learn how usage metrics are reported in traditional and containerized deployments, and when you might need to configure component usage metrics settings.
IBM® Content Cortex components collect usage metrics information automatically on a daily basis. The generated usage metrics include business value metrics that support auditing purposes and evidence of compliance.
It is your responsibility to maintain compliance with the licensing terms and conditions. To audit the use of IBM software, IBM License Metric Tool or IBM Usage Metering Service captures business value metrics and sends compliance data automatically and periodically.
In traditional deployments, IBM License Metric Tool captures the generated usage metrics. In containerized deployments, the IBM Usage Metering Service operator is already part of the deployment and sends compliance data to IBM Software Central.
Use the reporting topic that matches your deployment model to understand how reporting works, how usage metrics collection is enabled or disabled, and where the usage metrics files are written.
- For traditional deployments, see Reporting usage metrics with IBM License Metric Tool.
- For containerized deployments, see Reporting usage metrics with IBM Usage Metering Service.
Use the usage metrics parameter topics only if you need to change the default usage metrics settings for your deployment, such as the output location, publish timing, publish interval, rollover behavior, or other component-specific behavior to meet your operational, storage, or compliance requirements.
