Installing Bulk Import Tool

You must install several key components of Content Platform Engine before you install Bulk Import Tool.

About this task

Before you continue with the installation procedure, verify that you have a Java™ Runtime Environment (JRE) Version 1.8 or later installed on the system where you are installing Bulk Import Tool.

The Bulk Import Tool is installed by the Content Platform Engine server installation and also available as part of the Content Platform Engine Tools package, which you can download from Passport Advantage. The instructions for installing from the Content Platform Engine Tools package are included in the package. If you utilize the Content Platform Engine server installer, follow the instructions discussed in the procedure section.

Procedure

  1. Install the Content Platform Engine client library that is compatible with your Content Platform Engine server.
    During the installation process, you must select Java Client Application in the window that provides you with a list of optional features to install. For more information, see the Content Platform Engine installation documentation.

    The client library contains the Jace.jar file that is required by Bulk Import Tool.

  2. Install Bulk Import Tool by running the Content Platform Engine installation program. You must select Tools to install Bulk Import Tool.
    Bulk Import Tool is installed in the following default directory:
    • Windows: C:\Program Files\FileNet\ContentEngine\tools\CEBI
    • UNIX:/opt/IBM/FileNet/ContentEngine/tools/CEBI
  3. Optional: Add the path to the Content Platform Engine client libraries lib directory to the CLASSPATH environment variable.
