Assign system function

Use the Assign system function to assign values to work item data fields at a specific point in processing. Note that this is similar to assigning values on the Step Properties - Assignments tab.

About this task

You can specify up to 100 assignments with a single Assign system function. All assignment data fields must be defined in the workflow definition.

To add an Assign system function
  1. From the General System Palette, drag an Assign step onto the workflow map.
  2. In the Name field, select the name of the data field.
  3. In the Expression field, enter a valid expression to be assigned to the selected field. Note that for assignments of certain values to float and integer data fields, the system does an implicit conversion.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each data field you want to assign.
