Changing the Content Assistant index status for an object store

You can suspend vector indexing or start reindexing for an object store by modifying the index status property.

About this task

You can set the following values for the index status for an object store:
  • Active - Set the index status as Active when you want to enable vector indexing and create a new index for all new documents that are added to an object store. Existing documents are not indexed yet and you need to run a custom job sweep to index existing documents. For more information, see the topic (Optional) Running a custom job sweep for vector indexing existing documents.
  • Inactive - Set the index status as Inactive when you want to suspend and deactivate vector indexing for an object store. Content Assistant queries are disabled and the existing index is deactivated. The existing index is saved for 30 days, and can be restored, if necessary. Contact IBM Support External link opens a new window or tab to restore an existing index.
  • Resync - Resync is not an actual index state. Setting the index status to Resync causes your object store to refresh. As a result, all properties of the GenAI Configuration object reflect the values that are stored in the Content Assistant service.

Procedure

Follow the steps to modify the Content Assistant index status for an object store:

  1. In the Administration Console for Content Platform Engine (ACCE), go to the object store where you want to modify the index status.
