Reviewing the storage configuration for the Annotation class

Persistent text extraction stores the extracted text in an annotation on each document.

About this task

By default, annotations are stored in the object store database, rather than a storage area, which is suitable for small object stores. If you plan to extract text from large number of documents, configure the Annotation class to use a separate file system storage area or an advanced storage area.
Important: If you configure the Annotation class to use a fixed content storage area, the annotations are stored in the staging area of the fixed content storage area and are not migrated to the Fixed Content Device. Therefore, it is recommended that you use a non-fixed content storage area to store the extracted text annotations.

You should therefore choose a non fixed content storage area to store extracted text abstractions. For more information, see the topic Fixed storage areasExternal link opens a new window or tab.

Procedure

  1. In the Administration Console for Content Platform Engine (ACCE), go to the object store where you want to enable text extraction.
  2. Go to Data Design > Classes > Other Classes > Annotation > Text Extract Annotation.
  3. Specify different storage options for your text extracts in the Default Storage Area or Default Storage Policy fields.
  4. Click Save and complete the wizard.
