Asking questions about content across the repository

Use the Ask Your Repository feature to ask questions about content across an entire repository. It provides accurate answers within the context of the document content across the entire repository.

Before you begin

You need to set up the Content Assistant in your CPE and Content Navigator environment. For more information, see the topic Setting up the Content Assistant.

About this task

You might want to ask questions about a document that you are not able to locate within the repository but you know that the information resides within one or more documents in the repository. Use the Ask Your Repository feature when you want to ask questions about such documents.

Procedure

  1. Log in to IBM® Content Navigator by using your credentials.
    Note: Use only HTTPS connection to access the IBM Content Navigator when the Content Assistant plugin is installed.
  2. Click Ask Your Repository to ask questions about document content across the object store.
    You can ask a question about the document content in the object store. You can also change the object store to ask questions about documents in a different object store within the domain.
  3. Ask a question to the Content Assistant about document content in the object store.
    • Option 1 - Click the Suggestions icon icon to ask a commonly asked question.

      Select a question from the Suggestions page to ask a question to the Content Assistant. The page lists the commonly asked questions for your desktop and also lists queries from any recent interactions with the assistant.

    • Option 2 - Type your own question in the query box instead of asking a commonly asked question.
  4. After you receive the generated response from the Content Assistant, you can do one of the following actions:
    • Copy the Content Assistant response - Click the Copy to clipboard icon icon to copy and use the image from clipboard.
    • View document excerpts - Click the Drop-down arrow icon to view up to six document excerpts for the generated response.
    • Provide feedback about the Content Assistant - Click upvote icon or Downvote icon to include additional comments and click Submit to share your feedback about the Content Assistant.
