RUN TASK Checkpoint Records

IBM® Connect:Direct® always writes a checkpoint record on the node where the RUN TASK program executes. The initial checkpoint record is written upon entry to DGADRNT$, the module that handles the RUN TASK Process statement. IBM Connect:Direct updates the checkpoint record before attaching the program that is to execute. When the RUN TASK program finishes, IBM Connect:Direct updates the checkpoint record again.

The CKPT record created for a RUNTASK has been updated with IBM Connect:Direct for z/OS version 6.4. A sequence number has been added to the key of the VSAM file record, with the default value of this sequence number set to '00' for each record. When a Connect:Direct z/OS server receives multiple RUNTASK requests from a Connect:Direct Unix server for execution on SNODE, and these processes share the same name and are triggered simultaneously, their Process numbers will also be identical. In such cases, a new CKPT record is created in the CKPT file, with the sequence number incremented by ‘1’. These CKPT records will also contain an Instance-ID from the Unix server's instances, which will differentiate them from each other. Like other checkpoint records, these records are deleted upon successful completion of the Run Task.
