Using FASP with IBM Aspera High-Speed Add-on for IBM Connect:Direct for Microsoft Windows

IBM Aspera High-Speed Add-on for IBM® Connect:Direct® for Microsoft Windows uses FASP (Fast and Secure Protocol) network transport to transfer files over high bandwidth and high latency network connections.

At low latency it performs similarly to TCP/IP. However, as latency and packet loss increase, unlike TCP/IP, its performance does not degrade, and FASP continues to take advantage of all the available bandwidth.

IBM Aspera High-Speed Add-on for IBM Connect:Direct for Microsoft Windows supports interoperability with Connect:Direct for UNIX (V4.3.0 or later) and Secure Proxy.

Note: Secure+ is used to secure FASP transfers exactly the same way it is used for TCP/IP transfers.
Note:

From v6.3.0, users are not allowed to enable FASP via Initparms or Netmap.

If Connect:Direct has upgraded from a previous version where FASP was enabled:

  • In Initparms, after post-upgrade, fasp=n and the user is not allowed to activate FASP.
  • In Netmap, if FASP is active for PNODE or SNODE, the transfer will fail and log failure statistics that FASP is enabled.
