Sharding by enterprise
As part of the IBM® Sterling Order Management System Software base product, provides the capability of sharding by enterprise.
Sharding by enterprise enables enterprises to share the same Configuration shard but have
different shard for Master and Transaction data, one for each set of enterprises.
Note: Each
enterprise-specific Transaction shard is further associated with a Colony ID.
The following sharding by enterprise deployment example shows three colonies:
- Colony_A refers to the common configuration shard that contains the configuration data for E1 and a separate shard, which contains the Master and Transaction data for E1.
- Colony_B refers to the common Configuration shard that contains the configuration data for E2 and a separate shard, which contains the Master and Transaction data for E2.
- Colony_C refers to the common Configuration shard that contains the configuration data for E3 and a separate shard, which contains the Master and Transaction data for E3.

In this type of deployment, the Configuration shard is shared by all three enterprises, but each enterprise has its own Master and Transaction shard.
