Edge deployment server assumptions

Sterling Selling and Fulfillment suite version 9.3 features architectural enhancements for Sterling Order Management System Software to be extended to multiple servers, each serving a local population of users. However, the implementation of the edge deployment server on the Sterling Order Management System Software version 9.3, considers some of the assumptions.

The following assumptions are considered while implementing the edge deployment server:

• Edge deployment server maintains connectivity with the Sterling Order Management System Software enterprise server.
• Edge deployment server can only be used by the in store clients. However, currently none of the application user interfaces such as Sterling Call Center ,Sterling Store Engagement (Legacy) can connect to the edge deployment server.
• Edge deployment server can interact with only one Sterling Order Management System Software enterprise server.
• Multiple edge deployment servers can be supported on the same Sterling Order Management System Software enterprise server.
• Edge deployment servers do not interact between each other.
• Configuration and master data are synchronized only from the Sterling Order Management System Software enterprise server to the edge deployment server and not vice versa.
• Edge deployment server will synchronize the order data at the appropriate stage of the order cycle to the Sterling Order Management System Software enterprise server.
• Order capture of sales order and return order is currently supported on the edge deployment server.
• Once the order capture processes of the order flow is completed by the edge deployment server, it synchronizes the data to the Sterling Order Management System Software enterprise server and the data that resides at the edge deployment server is not further processed .
