Deploying on a virtual machine (VM)
IBM®
Concert provides a package with a set
of containerized services that you can run on a Linux machine. The package includes scripts and
utilities for you to set up and operate the Concert
services.
Planning for your VM installation
Refer to the following notes and considerations before installing IBM Concert on a virtual machine (VM).
Setting up external repositories for Concert data (VM)
You can connect an external repository to the virtual machine (VM) where your Concert instance is deployed, ensuring the availability of your Concert data. In the event the VM crashes or enters an unrecoverable state, you can install Concert software on a new VM and connect the repository databases to resume operations.
Installing Concert software on a VM
IBM Concert provides a package with a set of services that you can run on a Linux® machine. The package includes scripts and utilities for you to set up and operate the Concert services.
Upgrading Concert software (VM)
You can upgrade IBM Concert on a virtual machine. Follow the upgrade process for an in-place upgrade of the Concert installation.
Uninstalling Concert software (VM)
If needed, you can run an uninstall script to stop all Concert services and retain a backup, or fully remove the installation and all backup volumes.
Backup and restore (VM only)
You can use the volume backup and restore utility to back up your Concert application data at any point to protect against data loss in the event of a database corruption or failure of your VM instance. You can then restore this data in your Concert instance to resume operations. In the event of a database corruption, which could lead to the loss or distortion of data, or if the VM instance fails, causing the application to stop functioning, the previously created backup can be used to restore the data. This process of restoring the data back into the Concert instance enables the resumption of operations, ensuring minimal disruption and data loss. This service provides a safety net for your Concert application data, allowing you to recover and continue operations even after unexpected events that could otherwise lead to significant data loss.
Resetting a Concert instance (VM)
You can reset your Concert instance to the initial state, allowing you to reuse the environment without uninstalling and reinstalling Concert software. and reuse the instance. The reset script provides options for retaining user credentials.
Configuring Concert systemd services
Systemd is a system and service manager for Linux operating systems. Concert supports the introduction of Linux systemd
services to ensure container availability and restart functionality.
Known issues and limitations (VM deployments)
