Granting access to applications and environments

In addition to managing instance-level permissions through IBM SaaS Console (for SaaS deployments) or IBM Cloud Pak® foundational services (for software deployments), you can grant read and write access to individual application definitions and environments. You can also update or revoke access of existing users based on the need.

Before you begin

  • Refer to Overview of user access and roles to understand the different access levels (instance-level and object-level).
  • As best practice, limit access to application definitions and roles to only what is necessary and appropriate for the individual user.

Procedure

  1. To update or revoke access of existing users, use one of the following methods to navigate to the desired application or environment.
    • Select Inventory > Applications and from Definitions choose the application for which you want to manage access.
    • Select Inventory > Environments, and from Definitions choose the name of the environment for which you want to manage access.
    • In the Arena view, click the environment for which you want to manage access and go to Collaborators sub navigation.
  2. Select Manage collaborators from the overflow menu.
  3. Select the relevant users or user groups.
  4. Choose Change role or Revoke access as needed.
    1. Admin – Allows the user to view, edit, and delete the entity.
    2. Editor – Allows the user to view and edit the entity.
    3. Viewer – Allows the user to view the entity.
Note: Only Admin users can change or revoke access of other users.
Use the Grant access + option to give access to an existing user to an application or environment.

Results

You can see users and their respective roles under Collaborators navigation.
