Installing Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform for IBM Concert (OCP without CPFS)

IBM® Concert is deployed on a Red Hat® OpenShift® Container Platform cluster. If you don't have an existing cluster, complete the appropriate steps to install Red Hat OpenShift on your environment.

Who needs to complete this task?

Cluster administrator The user who is the primary cluster administrator should install the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform cluster.

When to complete this task

One-time setup If you don't have an existing Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform cluster, you must complete this task before you can install IBM Concert.

If you already have an existing Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform cluster, you can skip this task.

Supported deployment environments

You can deploy Concert on-premises or on the cloud. Your deployment environment determines how you can install Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform:

The following sections include additional guidance about how to install managed and self-managed OpenShift on each deployment environment.

Remember: If you use managed OpenShift, ensure that you install a supported version of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform.
Restriction: If you are installing Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform Version 4.14, keep the following restrictions in mind:
  • If you are installing OpenPages® or watsonx.governance Risk and Compliance Foundation, do not install the OpenShift Virtualization Operator on the cluster.
  • Do not install the KubeVirt HyperConverged Cluster Operator on the cluster.

On-premises infrastructure

Managed You can deploy a managed OpenShift cluster on your on-premises infrastructure with IBM Cloud Satellite. For details, see IBM Cloud Satellite in the IBM Cloud marketplace.
Self-managed You can deploy a self-managed OpenShift cluster on your on-premises infrastructure by following the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform documentation:

IBM Cloud infrastructure

Managed You can deploy a managed OpenShift cluster on IBM Cloud infrastructure from the IBM Cloud catalog. For details, see Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud® in the IBM Cloud catalog.

Ensure that you select a supported version of Red Hat OpenShift.Red Hat OpenShift.

You can deploy Concert on Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) infrastructure. You can use either a single-zone or multi-zone deployment.

Self-managed You can deploy a self-managed OpenShift cluster on Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) IBM Cloud infrastructure by following the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform documentation:

IBM Cloud Satellite

Self-managed
