Defining an environment from components

One method for defining your environments is to select relevant images from a library of ingested components. The component library is populated based on existing data ingestion jobs that pull application and environment data from your third-party tools and services.

Before you begin

Ensure that you have created the ingestion jobs to pull data from third-party tools and services or uploaded SBOM files in ConcertDef and CycloneDX formats.

Procedure

  1. Select Inventory > Environments.
  2. Click Define environment > From components.
  3. Enter a name for the environment.
  4. Optional: Enter a description for internal reference.
  5. Select the third-party connection type associated with this environment.
  6. Select the Purpose of this environment: Development, Testing, Staging, or Production.
  7. Optional: Apply one or more tags to this environment definition.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Select the relevant Images for this environment definition.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Review the summary, then click Create.
