Borrowing licenses by using the LMTOOLS program on Windows

You can run the LMTOOLS program as an alternative method for borrowing licenses.

Before you begin

Borrowing licenses is not supported in a redundant server configuration.
To obtain the LMTOOLS.exe file, complete one of these tasks:
  • Ask your system administrator for the file.
  • Use the LMTOOLS program that is installed with License Key Server. By default, the file is located in C:\Program Files\IBM\RationalRLKS\common\lmtools.exe

Procedure

  1. To start LMTOOLS, click Start > Programs > IBM Rational > License Tools.
  2. Click Borrowing.
  3. In the Vendor Name field, type ibmratl.
  4. In the Return Date field, type the date that you plan to return the borrowed license. If the license expires before the return date, then the borrowed license is not valid after the expiration date.
  5. In the Return Time field, type a time. By default the return time is 12:00 midnight.
  6. Click Set Borrow Expiration.
  7. Close LMTOOLS.
