Installing License Key Administrator

Learn how to install IBM Rational® License Key Administrator (LKAD). You can install the IBM Rational License Borrow Tool feature at the same time.

About this task

Use IBM Installation Manager to install LKAD on Windows. For information, see the Installation Manager IBM® Knowledge Center.

The Rational License Borrow Tool is installed as a feature of LKAD. To install the Rational License Borrow Tool, you must use the LKAD installation files. You must install LKAD if you install the Rational License Borrow Tool.

Procedure

  1. Download the installation files for LKAD.
    Note: License Key Administrator (LKAD) is included with many IBM Rational products, including IBM Common Licensing.
  2. Open Installation Manager.
  3. Add a repository for LKAD:
    1. Click File > Preferences > Repositories.
    2. Click Add repositories.
    3. Click Browse and navigate to the installation files for LKAD and select the diskTag.inf file.
    4. Click OK and click OK again to close the Repository window.
  4. Click Install.
  5. Select IBM Rational License Key Administrator. Click Next.
  6. Click Next after the prerequisites are validated. To validate prerequisites again, click Recheck Status in the lower right corner.
  7. Accept the license agreement and click Next.
  8. You can specify the shared resources directory only the first time that you install a package that uses Installation Manager. Accept the default Shared Resources Directory or enter a different directory and click Next.
    Important: You cannot change the location of the Shared Resources Directory unless you uninstall all packages.

    Default Shared Resources directory: C:\Program Files\IBM\IMShared

  9. Accept the default installation directory for LKAD or enter a different installation directory.

    Default installation directory: C:\Program Files\IBM\RationalRLKS.

  10. Select more languages to install and click Next.
  11. Review the features to install. Select the IBM Rational License Borrow Tool feature to install the Rational License Borrow Tool. Click Next.

    If you install the Rational License Borrow Tool, you must install LKAD. You can install the Rational License Borrow Tool later by using the Modify wizard in Installation Manager.

  12. Review the summary information and click Install.
  13. Click Finish and close Installation Manager.
