Highlight data using interactive brushing

Interactive brushing enables you to interactively select and highlight data points of your interest in multiple data containers.

These containers, such as lists, crosstabs, repeaterTables, charts and 11.0 visualizations, must share the same data source and be on the same page of a report.

Important: You cannot use interactive data brushing for data tables and 11.1 visualizations in the release 12.1.0.

Apply the interactive brushing when you view or run a report in the HTML format, as an author or consumer, with the Run with full interactivity property turned on. For more information, see Limited and fully interactive reports.

Procedure

  1. Optional: In the report toolbar, turn off the Edit toggle Edit toggle turned off to switch to view mode or run the report in HTML format.
  2. Click the Interactive brushing icon Interactive brushing in the toolbar.
  3. In a data container, click a data point that you want to highlight across all containers.
    To make more than one selection, hold Ctrl and click all data points of your interest.
  4. Optional: Remove your selections with one of the following methods:
    • Click the background of a visualization or a chart.
    • Hold down the Ctrl key and click a selection in other type data containers. This method works only for single selections.
