Creating connections between data containers

You can create connections between data containers to interactively brush data in these containers.

About this task

To brush data items of your interest in multiple data containers, you need to create two-way connections between these containers.

Note: The creation of connections between two data containers is not necessary, if you use a parameter in both data containers and the parameter is set up for an interactive behavior: highlight or filter.

Procedure

  1. Optional: In the report toolbar, turn on the Edit toggle edit toggle icon.
  2. Select a data container.
  3. Open the Create a new connection window in one of the following ways:
    • Optional: Click the Create a new connection icon create a new connection icon in the on-demand toolbar.
    • Optional: Click the Interactive Behavior icon interactive bahavior icon in the toolbar, and then click Create a new connection in the Interactive Behavior window.
  4. In the Create a new connection window, enter values in the following fields:
    • Source control - a name of one data container.
    • Target control - a name of another data container.
    • Data item - select a data column for which you create the connection.
    • Behavior - you can choose Highlight or Filter from the drop-down list.
    • Parameter - select a parameter from the drop-down list or click Create a new parameter.
      Note: A new parameter must have a unique name.
  5. Click Connect.
