IBM Cognos button is disabled or missing

You have started a Microsoft Office application, but the IBM Cognos button is disabled or missing from the toolbar or the Add-ins tab. A security warning is displayed with a Always trust macros from this publisher check box. The warning will vary according to the level of security that you have chosen for macros and add-ins. You must either select the check box in the security message or lower the macro security level so that you are not prompted each time that you start an application.

The Trust Center has detected the IBM Cognos Office add-in as unsafe, and it has disabled the add-in by default. The add-in did not satisfy specific security criteria, such as a valid and current digital signature, a reputable certificate, or a trusted publisher. There are different potential causes for the disabled IBM Cognos button and the security message.

  • Your macro security level is set to High

You have also disabled the Trust all installed add-ins and templates security option by clearing the check box. In this case, all unsigned macros are automatically disabled. To resolve this problem, you must lower the macro security level.

  • In Microsoft Office 2007, the Require Application Add-Ins to be signed by Trusted Publisher security option was enabled, which prevents the IBM Cognos Office add-in from displaying in the Add-in list.
Note: If your company's security policy does not permit you to set a macro security level lower than High, or it requires that all add-ins have a signed certificate, in the security warning message, select the Always trust macros from this publisher check box, close the Microsoft Office application, and then restart it.
