Summary

Use a summary visualization when you want to see the total for a measure or the count for a categorical column in the form of numbers or graphics.

The following image shows examples of summary visualizations that use numbers and graphics.

Examples of a summary visualization

To re-create this set of summary visualization, perform the following steps:

  1. From a dashboard, click the Visualizations icon Visualizations icon, and in the System tab of the Visualizations pane, select Summary.
  2. Click the Select a source button in the Data pane, in the Select a source window go to Samples > By industry > Automotive > Data. Select the Auto group data module and click Add.
  3. Drag the Current month [Profit] data set to the Value field of this visualization.
  4. Click the Visualizations icon Visualizations icon, and in the Visualizations > System tab, select Summary.
  5. Drag the Model data set to the Value field of this second visualization.
  6. Click the Visualizations icon Visualizations icon, and in the Visualizations > System tab, select Summary.
  7. Drag the Current month [Quantity sold] data set to the Value field of this third visualization.
  8. Click the Widgets icon, and from the Shapes section of the Widgets tab, drag the shape of car onto the third visualization.
  9. Select the visualization with the shapes of cars and click Properties.
  10. In the Color section of the Visualization tab, click Element color, and select a color for your graphical element.
  11. Click the legend at the bottom of the summary with graphics and select Default on the scale slider.
