KPI

Use a KPI visualization to display a key performance indicator (KPI) that contains two related measures. In addition, you can display a sparkline and a meaningful shape in your KPI visualizations.

A KPI visualization compares a base value to a target value and shows the variance between the two measures.

This example of the KPI visualization shows Product cost compared to Revenue for Year and Month.

To re-create this KPI visualization, perform the following steps:
  1. From a dashboard, click the Visualizations icon and in the System tab of the Visualizations pane, select KPI.
  2. Click the Select a source button in the Data pane, and in the Select a source window go to Samples/By feature/Core/Data. Select the Great outdoors data module and click Add.
  3. Drag the following data sets onto the indicated fields:
    • Revenue onto the Base value field.
    • Product cost onto the Target value field.
    • Year, and then Month onto the Time field.
  4. Click Properties, and in the Color section of the Visualization tab under Rules, click Greater than or equal to $100.00% and set the text color to yellow.
  5. In the visualization, right-click Revenue and in the menu that appears, select Summarize > Maximum
  6. Right-click Product cost in the visualization, and in the menu select Summarize > Maximum.
