Downloading settings

You can download user, object, and system settings in a JSON format.

Important: Do not use these settings to solve an issue by yourself. Instead, contact IBM Support and share the settings with them so that they can help you solve the issue.

This feature aims to simplify and speed up the collection of settings for data analysis and comparison. For example, you might encounter a situation when one user is able to view or perform a specific thing, and another user is not. When you enable this feature, you can download the JSON file and compare the settings between different users.

Before you begin

The feature is disabled by default and you need to enable it to see the download options in the IBM® Cognos® Analytics UI.

  1. Add the Advanced Setting:
    1. Go to Manage > Configuration > System > Advanced Settings.
    2. Create a setting called Admin.allowDebugSettings and set its value to true.
  2. Enable downloading user and object settings for specified users by adding them to a new role:
    1. Go to Manage > People > Accounts > Cognos.
    2. Create a role and name it __DEBUGSETTINGS__.
Note: For more information, see Creating and managing groups and roles.
    3. Add users to the role.
  3. For system settings, you need to have a System Administrator role.
