Configure and start your Satellite Connector service to connect your computer to an IBM
Satellite server.
Before you begin
Ensure that you have installed Satellite Connector Agent using the IBM installer.
Procedure
- On the Satellite Connector host computer, go to the
folder you extracted when you installed Satellite Connector Agent.
For
example, go to C:\SatelliteConnector\satellite-agent-windows.
- Edit the file config.json.
- Open the file config.json in a text editor.
The
content appears as follows:

- Replace
<connector_id>
and <api_key>
with the
values that you copied when you installed the agent.
- Replace
<tags>
with the name of the Satellite Connector host
computer.
Tip: This value is not required. However, it will help you to troubleshoot
issues.
- Save and close the file.
- Create and start the Satellite Connector service:
- Right click the file satellite-agent-windows\install.cmd, and
then select Run as administrator.
The following message
appears:
Will create and start Satellite Connector Service, please make sure config.json
is updated. Continue?(y/n)
- Type y, and then press Enter.
- When prompted again, type y, and then press Enter.
The folder connector_agent is created and the Satellite Connector service is
started.
- Confirm that the Satellite Connector service is running.
- Go to the Satellite Connectors page.
The status shows as Not connected.
- Click
Refresh.
The status changes to Connected. This confirms that your Satellite Connector is connected
to the IBM Satellite server on the cloud.
Results
Satellite Connector Agent is configured and the Satellite Connector service is
running.
