Uploading report images

Custom images in reports are not included in the content deployment, and must be uploaded separately from the rest of the content.

The following image types are supported: GIF, JPG, and PNG.

About this task

Use an SFTP client, such as FileZilla, or a command-line tool to upload the images into the webcontent directory. The images are replicated into the Cognos Analytics on Cloud environment. Then, insert the images into the related reports in Cognos® Analytics - Reporting.

Procedure

  1. In your SFTP client, in the webcontent directory, select an existing subdirectory or create a new one for the image files.
Note: The webcontent directory is at the same level as the root of a Cognos Analytics on Cloud hosted URL.
  2. Upload the images into the selected directory.

The images are replicated into the Cognos Analytics on Cloud Hosted environment.

  3. To verify whether the uploaded image is present in Cognos Analytics on Cloud Hosted, follow these steps:
    1. In the web browser, add the image file name to the root of the Cognos Analytics on Cloud Hosted URL in the following way: https:server_name.ca.analytics.ibm.com/image_path.
      For example, https:my_ca_server.ca.analytics.ibm.com/images/bee.gif.

The image_path includes the image subdirectory within the webcontent directory, and the file name is case-sensitive.

    2. Click enter, and view the image in the browser.
  4. In Cognos Analytics - Reporting, open the report that uses the uploaded image. Turn on the edit mode in the report.
  5. To insert the image into the report, click the Toolbox icon Toolbox tab, select Layout, and double-click the Image image object icon object.

If the report already contains the image icon image object icon (missing image) , double-click this icon.

  6. In the Image Picker box, in the text box, type the URL of the image, and clickOK.

The image is displayed in the report, and the image URL Source property is updated with the entered URL.
