Pie

Use a pie visualization to highlight proportions.

The contributions are represented by the sizes of pie slices. The larger the slice, the higher the percentage of the whole. With a pie chart, you can plot only single categorical data series. To plot multiple data series in a single chart, use stacked bar or stacked column.

The following image shows an example of a pie visualization.

To re-create this pie visualization, perform the following steps:

  1. From a dashboard, click the Visualizations icon Visualizations icon, and in the System tab of the Visualizations pane, select Pie.
  2. Click the Select a source button in the Data pane, in the Select a source window go to Samples > By industry > Insurance > Data. Select the Customer analysis data module and click Add.
  3. Drag the following data sets onto the indicated fields:
    • Vehicle Class onto the Segments field
    • Number of policies onto the Size field

You can add a hole to the middle of your pie chart to create a donut chart. For more information, see Creating a donut visualization from a pie.
