Hierarchy bubble

Use a hierarchy bubble visualization when you want to show relationships among columns that contain values.

The visualization is similar to the bubble visualization, but the bubbles are tightly packed instead of spread over a grid. The bubbles use nesting to represent the hierarchy. A hierarchy bubble visualization shows a large amount of data in a small space. The visualization shows multiple levels within a hierarchy and relationships between groups based on assigned attributes. Bubble size and color convey comparative information about categories.

The following image shows an example of a hierarchy bubble visualization.

This example of the hierarchy bubble visualization shows Vehicle Class and Vehicle Size hierarchy where sizes of bubbles correspond to Customer lifetime Value and bubbles are colored by Vehicle Size.

To re-create this hierarchy bubble visualization, perform the following steps:
  1. From a dashboard, click the Visualizations icon and in the System tab of the Visualizations pane, select Hierarchy Bubble.
  2. Click the Select a source button in the Data pane, and in the Select a source window go to Samples/By industry/Insurance/Data. Select the Customer analysis data module and click Add.
  3. Drag the following data sets onto the indicated fields:
    • Vehicle Class and Vehicle Size onto the Bubbles field.
    • Customer Lifetime Value onto the Size field.
    • Vehicle Size onto the Color field
The following animation demonstrates the previous steps:
