You can group columns in a data table, and then expand and collapse rows in the grouped
columns.
The data in the grouped columns can be summarized in the header or footer. The expand and
collapse functionality is available only for group headers.
Procedure

In the Page preview, select the whole data table. For more information,
see Setting data table properties.
- In the application bar, click the Show properties icon . The properties pane is
opened.
- Under DATA properties, select the Grouping &
summary property, and click its context menu icon .
The Grouping & summary dialog box is opened. The columns in the dialog
box are organized into Groupable columns and Detail
columns.
- Expand the Groupable columns.
- Select the Group header checkbox for each column, and the type of
data aggregation, such as Total or Count.
- Select the Enable expand & collapse checkbox at the top of the
dialog box, and click OK.
Note: If you selected the Group footer checkbox for any column in the
previous step, the Enable expand & collapse checkbox is disabled.
The selected columns are grouped, and a summary header row is added for each grouped column. You
can expand and collapse rows in the grouped columns.
- To further modify the appearance of the data table, you can use the following
properties.
- Intially collapsed
- Change this property value to Yes to collapse the rows every time when a
user opens the report for the first time. This property is listed under the
DATA properties.
- Collapsed values text
- Use the Specified text option to provide a custom text when a group of
values is collapsed. The default is Automatic, which represents 4 number sign
symbols (####).
- Expand/collapse indicator shape
- Specifies the shape of the icon that appears with the Group header
label. The shapes include the plus and minus, chevron, and triangle icons. This property is listed
under the GENERAL properties.
- Expand/collapse indicator color
- Specifies the color of the icon that is specified for the Expand/collapse indicator
shape. This property is listed under the GENERAL properties.
