Adding animations

Use animations to define how widgets enter and exit your scenes.

About this task

Animations can be used to make your story more dynamic and memorable. The default widget animation is the fade animation. The fade animation works in most situations. You can change this animation type, but having too many different animation types can be distracting to the viewer.

Tip: Generally, you shouldn't have widgets overlap one another when the widgets enter or exit a scene. Based on the animation type that you choose for your widgets, pay attention to the direction in which they enter or exit.

Procedure

  1. Click Edit or preview Edit or preview icon.
  2. Click Scene selector Scene selector icon.
  3. Click the scene, which contains the widget that you want to add an animation to.
  4. Click Open timeline New icon.
  5. Click the widget that you want to add an animation to.
  6. Click Open animation properties Open animation properties icon.
  7. Expand Entrance or Exit, depending on if you want to add an animation to the beginning or end of your widget.
  8. Select the animation type from the Animation menu.
  9. If applicable, select the direction of the animation from the Direction menu.

Results

In the example, the slide animation type was added to two of the text boxes, and the Entry animation duration for the data widget was increased.
