Exploring your data

You can explore the data that is shown in a visualization by using the interactive title, drilling up or down columns, and viewing the details of a data point.

Viewing the underlying data
The data tray shows you all the rows and columns that are available for you to analyze.
Viewing the underlying visualization data
From the toolbar for a visualization, or from the data tray, you can view the data that makes up your visualization.
Changing the columns or members in a visualization
You can focus on points that are of interest to you by changing the data that appears in the visualization.
Selecting columns from a different data asset
You can use data from more than one data asset in your dashboard. Each visualization must use data from a single data asset. You cannot use data from multiple data assets in the same visualization.
Drilling up and down in your data
Explore your data at different levels to gain a broader perspective or a more detailed view.
Working with a data point
You can view details, select, or perform actions on a data point.
Relinking sources
You can relink a dashboard to the same source or to a different source directly from the dashboard.
Resolving ambiguous data source connections
When you open a dashboard or story and there are multiple data source connections and data source sign-ons associated with your credentials, a prompt asks you to resolve the ambiguous connections.
Zooming in and out
Sometimes you want to zoom in on a visualization to see the details, such as in a large bar visualization. For the visualizations that support zoom, use the scroll button on your mouse or the icons in the visualization to zoom in and out.
Specify the zoom level of the canvas
You can specify the zoom level in which to view the dashboard canvas.
Expanding and collapsing hierarchies in crosstabs
You can expand hierarchies in a crosstab that displays data from an OLAP data source and view several levels of data at one time.

Use focus mode to maximize the size of a visualization to quickly review chart content.
Creating an enriched package from a Planning Analytics cube
You can create an enriched package from an Planning Analytics cube in IBM Cognos® Analytics, and use features such as Forecasting to explore data presented in visualizations.
